I worked with Regan Horacek at Swan Dive Design Studio whose client wanted a funky, interesting desk that provided both form and function. Calling to the client’s love for old furniture-as well as this particular blue color-Regan curated a few pieces from around Denver’s antique shops and asked me to re-assemble them to her design. The pieces were quite antique and I was only barely able to identify that they were built c.1925 in Brooklyn, NY, East Rutherford, NJ, and Pittsburgh, PA. Cabinet door panels were carved around the last stages of the Ottoman Empire, around which I built the doors, trim, and cabinet. As bad as I felt for disassembling this furniture, it was a pleasure to see the craftsmanship and very interesting to see manufacturing methods of 100 years ago.
